Hey folks! This is Mike and Tom from Pacific One Collision and Restoration.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from you all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"When does it become unsafe to drive a vehicle with frame damage? | Body Shop Federal Way, WA"

Answer:

This is very situational. Technically, a vehicle with slight frame deviation can sometimes still be driven if the damage is minimal. However, that doesn’t mean it’s safe long-term. Even small deviations can affect tracking, steering, and overall handling.

If steering components are affected or if structural damage is more severe, we strongly advise against driving the vehicle. We’ve had cases where customers continued driving with frame damage, especially after rear-end collisions that impacted suspension or axles, and that can be dangerous. When you bring your vehicle to us, we can evaluate it and advise whether it’s safe to drive or if repairs should be done immediately.

Summary:

Driving with frame damage depends on severity, but Pacific One advises against driving if steering or structural safety is compromised.
