Hey folks! This is Mike and Tom from Pacific One Collision and Restoration.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from you all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"What's the difference between vehicle frame repair and unibody repair? | Body Shop Federal Way, WA"

Answer:

Unibody repair primarily involves sheet metal, but the frame is actually an integral part of the unibody structure. A unibody vehicle is technically one piece, meaning everything is tied together through welded and spot-welded components. Even though it’s one structure, there are still serviceable sections such as frame extensions or rear tail extensions.

Traditional body-on-frame vehicles, like older trucks, had separate frames. Modern vehicles are not built that way. That’s why unibody repairs are more complex, but still serviceable with the right equipment and procedures.

Summary:

Unibody repair involves integrated frame and sheet metal structures, making repairs more complex but still serviceable using modern techniques.
