Hey folks! This is Mike and Tom from Pacific One Collision and Restoration.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from you all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"What kinds of dents can be repaired versus requiring panel replacement? | Body Shop Federal Way, WA"

Answer:

It really depends on the situation. Some dents can be repaired using paintless dent removal, especially if the paint hasn’t been compromised. If a vehicle has been repainted, PDR may not be an option and traditional dent repair with paint may be required.

Panel replacement is often chosen when the labor required to repair dents—especially those involving multiple body lines—exceeds the cost of replacing the panel. Newer trucks, for example, have complex body lines that are very time-consuming to reshape correctly. In those cases, replacement is often the more cost-effective and higher-quality solution.

Summary:

Dent repair versus replacement depends on damage severity, panel complexity, and cost-effectiveness.
